American Jamal Browner set the raw deadlift world record at 442.5kg in December 2023. "Raw" means no deadlift suit or straps -- only a belt is permitted -- so the lift relies purely on human muscular and grip strength. At 442.5kg, the weight rivals that of a small car, placing extreme stress on the spine and joints. Browner competes at 110kg, making his record especially impressive relative to his body weight.
